Coverage of Charles Murray Protest

In 2017 I helped lead the paper’s coverage of the student-led protests of Charles Murray, who was invited to give a lecture on campus on March 2. My live stream of the protest went viral and my coverage of the event was featured nationally. This is one of the most significant events to occur on Middlebury’s campus in recent history and it’s impact is still being felt to this day. Here, I will chronicle my reporting on the protest, the punishment of students, and how it is still effecting the culture on campus.

1. I live streamed the lecture using Periscope and later uploaded the video to YouTube. It currently has over 150,000 views.

After The Campus published an article about a student who alleged racial profiling in the wake of the Murray protest, and after a faculty member wrote in a letter to the editor about a faculty member being racially profiled, graffiti condemning the college and labeling it “racist” appeared on campus. Here is my story.

12. I interviewed, along with Nick Garber, former Congressman Barney Frank and for Governor John Sununu about the climate on college campuses and free speech issues.
