The Washington Post

I freelanced for the Washington Post last month! I contributed a mini profile to this collection that ran on July 4. It featured seven Americans talking about what patriotism means to them. It was a fun piece to report and write, and the whole getting paid part was great too!

Film School Rejects/One Perfect Shot

June marked the end of my internship with FSR. But, I was asked to stay on as a contributor last month. Since I was getting adjusted to the new role and reporting a lot for the Free Press (see below), I only wrote one article, a video essay guide to “your favorite cartoons.

You’ll see my writing there more often now (I already have a piece up for August). Plus, I’m still living off that Guillermo del Toro high.

Burlington Free Press

July marked my second (and second to last) month as a reporter at the Burlington Free Press, a daily newspaper based in Burlington, Vermont, and part of the USA Today Network. Here are some of my favorite things I wrote this month:

I interviewed the host of a new Netflix show and a contestand on a new NBC show starring Amy Poehler and Nick Offerman:

Last month, I wrote a profile of François Clemmons, who played Officer Clemmons on Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood and was interviewed in the new documentary about Fred Rogers, Won’t You Be My Neighbor? In July, I stayed on the Fred Rogers beat:

I shot, edited, and co-hosted with five different coworkers a five-part mini web series reviewing the city of Burlington’s top-five Yelp-rated nachos. Check them all out here:

And finally, I broke some sad media news: Job cuts are on the horizon at WCAX, a CBS affiliate in Vermont:

Here is everything I reported for the month:

Week 5 (July 1-8)

Week 6 (July 9-15)

Week 7 (July 16-22)

Week 8 (July 23-31)
